Blake Lively Goes "Bronde"
While some of us have opted to lighten our hair for the summer, a few celebs have decided to swim against the highlighted stream. Blake Lively is now a brunette, and while she can rock any cut or color in existence, excuse me while I mourn her enviously perfected golden locks.
Lively described her hair's new hue as “bronde” in her breathtaking Instagram snap, which shows her sitting cross-legged on a bridge against a backdrop of mountains full of leafy trees.
If it weren’t for the caption “… Brondes have more fun #NotATypo-IKnowIThinkItsCrazyToo,” I easily could have missed the hair in all my vacation jealousy. That is, at least, until I clicked over to a close-up of Lively throwing up a finger heart against the similarly-shaped mountains. I got the message loud and clear, Blake — beautiful mountain, beautiful hair.
Thankfully, Lively only colored her hair, leaving its length and natural waves alone. I’m convinced the actress is one of those people who could probably make wearing a trash bag on her head a fashion statement, but hair makes the woman, and I would weep at a dramatic trim of those locks. Especially considering my own hair refuses to grow past my chest and I am living vicariously through her.
"Holy cow! A heart shaped mountain." More like holy cow, Blake Lively is no longer blonde and what is life?
This is definitely going to take some getting used to. Ever since I first watched her as the blonde-bombshell-soccer-playing-cool-girl who lands the hot, older summer camp counselor in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, whenever Lively's name was brought to my attention, I pictured her exactly that way.
Alas, Serena van der Woodsen has taken some serious hair styling cues from Blair Waldorf, and the world is upside-down. Blonde or brunette, she's gorgeous.
That being said, allow me to pay homage to what was once a blonde Lively. May we meet again.
Raise your hand if you're missing these golden locks already. *Passes over the Kleenex.*
Even after having a baby, Lively was still the blonde beauty she always was.
Way back when and oh so fabulous.
I'm digging the "bronde" for now, but I sincerely hope she'll return to those honey-hued locks before long.
