Subway Responds To Jared's Home Being Raided

by Jenny Hollander

Every bit as shocked about the home raid of "Subway Jared" Fogle by the FBI as you are, apparently, is Subway, which released a statement Tuesday morning about Fogle being linked to a FBI investigation into child pornography. Subway, too, isn't quite sure what to say. “We are shocked about the news and believe it is related to a prior investigation of a former Jared Foundation employee," the company said in a statement. "We are very concerned and will be monitoring the situation closely. We don’t have any more details at this point.” CBS reports that Fogle is a suspect in a child pornography investigation, according to law enforcement officers who spoke with the outlet.

The Jared Foundation, which works towards preventing childhood obesity and has no affiliation with Subway, was rocked in March by the arrest of executive director Russell Taylor for charges that included childhood pornography. At the time, Subway told local station Fox 49: "We don’t have any affiliation with the foundation, and we were disgusted to hear about these claims. We’re glad Jared took quick action to sever all his ties with Mr. Taylor.”

Fogle himself told the outlet at the time: "I was shocked to learn of the disturbing allegations against Mr. Taylor. Effective immediately, the Jared Foundation is severing all ties with Mr. Taylor."
