Every time it seems like there's a glimmer of hope for Lamar Odom — he said that things with wife Khloe Kardashian were "wonderful," there was talk of him re-starting his professional basketball career — something comes along and takes it away. This time, it's a video of Lamar Odom and a friend rapping, released by TMZ, where he references drugs and vaguely admits to cheating on Khloe Kardashian.
The video features a shirtless Odom and friend Jamie, who any fans of Khloe & Lamar may remember as his childhood friend who he tries to help by giving him jobs in an Entourage-type situation. Apparently, the two are rap collaborators now, as they freestyle for over three minutes, often incoherently.
The whole thing is very hard to watch. Just over a week ago, it was reported that Odom and his wife had started attending couple's therapy together, which was followed by the news that he was preparing to return to the Los Angeles Clippers. It looked like Odom was getting things back on track, until this awful video surfaced.
Part of the rap refers to Kardashian, as Odom says, "And when Khloe's out of town / I still be on the DL," which his friend follows up with talk about being in shorties' cribs (side note: Jamie might want to update his hip hop slang).
Though there's no way of knowing exactly when the video was filmed, TMZ says that it was made this month so let's hope that it's from much earlier in November, before the counseling and training started. If it's from any later, then the video is even more sad. Odom's problems have been going on for a long time, and he clearly needs help. Hopefully this video will be the last bad sign we see as Odom (hopefully) begins recovering.
The video is below, but a warning, it's very depressing for anyone hoping to see Odom make it through all of this and get the help he needs.
