Selena Gomez Confirms She "Had a Thing" With Zedd

In the wake of the final, no-this-time-it's-really-over breakup of the ultimate ship the world knew as Jelena, Selena Gomez dated Zedd, a fact that she officially confirmed in a new interview. She also simultaneously shut Diplo (and his belief that the Zeddlena relationship was just a publicity stunt) the eff down. YAAAS.

Calling into the New Zealand radio show The Edge Afternoons With Guy, Sharyn and Clint, the "Good For You" singer had no problem calling out the DJ/producer and his (totally unfounded) thoughts on her romance with the 25-year-old German-Russian DJ. Back in June, Diplo slammed Zedd, calling him a "moneymaker" and telling Radio.com that "they've marketed him, even the fake relationship with Selena Gomez, all the things to sell records took away from the music."

"He said that was a joke," Gomez immediately replied when the radio hosts asked her about Diplo's claims about her relationship. "First of all, it's very interesting that Diplo would think he would know about my personal life," Gomez continued, cracking up both herself and the radio DJs.

For serious, though: Diplo — man behind the "Kickstarter to get Taylor Swift a booty" tweet and guy who claims to know many of Swift's "secrets" — isn't exactly privy to the innermost relationships in Gomez's life, particularly the ones post-Bieber. Sure, the DJ runs in the same circles as Zedd, collaborated with Justin Bieber on "Where Are U Now" and dated Katy Perry, but none of that actual means he has any ~insider knowledge~ on whether or not Selena Gomez and Zedd were in a real relationship.

So, at long last, here is the actual verdict from Selena Gomez, who most likely knows a little more about her own relationships than Diplo does.

"I adore Anton [aka Zedd] a lot and I definitely had a thing with him, which was nice," she told the radio show about the nature of her romance with Zedd. Clearly, the "I Want You To Know" collaborators 1) actually dated and 2) are still on good terms, even if they did call it quits back in April.

Lessons learned: Diplo doesn't know what he's talking about, Selena Gomez calls her ex by his first name (even if she can't pronounce his last), and I still ship them and their adorable selves even if Zeddlena broke up back in April.
