22 Foods Made Better With Alcohol

by Jessica Booth

Who needs a drink in their hand when they can eat something that will get them tipsy instead? Combine two of your favorite things — food and alcohol — and you've got an end result that doesn't only taste good, but makes almost everyone happy. I'm talking about food infused with alcohol, of course. What better time to let fruits and other foods soak in liquor than summer and barbecue season?

Soaking your food in alcohol takes care of two things at one time: your desire to drink liquor and maybe get a little drunk, and your hunger. What could be better than that? Fruit is probably your best option when it comes to this — it quickly absorbs your drink of choice and makes it taste sweeter. So sweet, in fact, that you'll barely notice that you're drinking alcohol.

Which brings me to my next warning: be careful with these alcohol-soaked foods. They are so delicious that you are going to want to eat a lot, but, uh, you may regret that in the morning. Make these snacks and desserts to become everyone's favorite party guest or host this summer. Here are 22 foods you probably never realized you could soak in alcohol:

1. Pineapples

Soak pineapples in vodka and add them to a mixed drink, or just eat them on their own.

2. Strawberries

Let strawberries soak in champagne for a seriously romantic treat.

3. Watermelon

Let watermelon sit in your drink of choice — or just stick a bottle upside down into a watermelon.

4. Angel Food Cake

Angel food cake is spongy, meaning it will easily absorb liquids.

5. Oranges

Put these all over for your next party or barbecue — and then eat them later, of course.

6. Doughnuts

I'm not sure exactly how drunken doughnuts work, but I am really happy they exist.

7. Plums

Make plums even juicier by soaking them in alcohol.

8. Cherries

Marinate cherries in moonshine, and get ready to never look at cherries the same way again.

9. Cupcakes

I'm not sure if these cupcakes are actually soaked in alcohol, but they are made with rum, so that counts, right? Right.

10. Melon

Soak some melon in vodka on its own, or add it to a whole fruit-alcohol-mix.

11. Bananas

Make your own bananas foster by marinating them in rum, then cooking them in a skillet.

12. Pears

These pears are soaked in red wine. Does it get better than that?

13. Apples

Soak apples in liquor, or try white or red wine so it feels like you're eating sangria.

14. Blueberries

Add some white wine to your blueberries for an extra special snack.

15. Peaches

Soak peaches in bourbon for a super sweet dessert.

16. Gummy Bears

Vodka-soaked gummy bears are so sticky-sweet that you literally will not be able to stop eating them.

17. Rum Cake

Who can turn down cake soaked in rum?

18. Peach Rings

If you can't get enough of peaches this summer, take peach ring candies and soak them in peach vodka.

19. Marshmallows

Soak marshmallows in vodka — it's way better than marshmallow-flavored vodka.

20. Jello

Make vodka jello into jello shots, or just eat it with a spoon.

21. Sour Patch Kids

Why eat plain Sour Patch Kids when you could drench them in vodka first?

22. Popsicles

Technically these aren't soaked in alcohol, but they're still the perfect summer treat.
