21 Hilarious Tweets About Justice Scalia

by Gabrielle Moss

In today's historic Supreme Court decision declaring that states can no longer ban same-sex couples from marrying, there were a lot of winners — the activists who have dedicated decades of their lives to the cause of marriage equality, the same-sex couples and families who can finally guarantee their legal rights as partners anywhere in the country, and the American public at large, who are now one step closer to living in a more equitable society. There is, however, one public figure who is currently standing in for everyone on the wrong side of history in this decision — Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. Scalia, whose opposition to progressive causes has made him a hot-button figure in recent years, wrote a dissent against the marriage equality decision that it so full of unusual images, strange verbal flourishes, and off-hand references to hippies that it seems like it was basically created to become a satirical meme. Between this decision and yesterday's decision upholding Obamacare, Scalia is having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad week — and luckily, Twitter has been there to mock it all. Below, here are 21 tweets that show the field day that the internet is having with the dissenting justice. Confidential to Ruth Bader Ginsburg: one of these is your secret personal account, right?
