6 Real People 'Aquarius' Should Include
Things are going to get really dark on NBC's Aquarius if the newly announced Season 2 continues to follow Charles Manson's history. The series, which has been touted as historical fiction, has already introduced some of the key players in the Charles Manson biography including hardcore Manson follower Susan Atkins aka Sadie. But we still haven't gotten to the most brutal of Charles Manson's crimes, and with that comes more real life characters that need to be in Aquarius Season 2.
Season 1 of Aquarius was set in 1967 with flashbacks to the late 1950s to show Ken Karn's involvement with Charles Manson. But, the majority of Manson's high-profile crimes didn't happen until 1969. And, before creepy Manson and his creepy family can even think about committing murders of people like Sharon Tate and the LaBiancas, many other pawns in the chess game need to be introduced. We still have to see the official set up of the Manson family compound and the culmination of Manson's dream music career which directly leads to the Sharon Tate murders. So, here's who I hope will make an appearance in Season 2 to make the story of Charles Manson a little more grounded in reality.
1. Sharon Tate
The murders that rocked a country, Sharon Tate should be included in the series if Season 2 covers 1969 in Manson's life.
2. Leno & Rosemary LaBianca
The other murders that put Manson back on the police radar. These, coupled with the Tate murders, were definitely the biggest, most brutal moments in Manson's life. If the series wants to stay true to the historical side of things, they play a major role.
3. Dennis Wilson & Terry Melcher (And Other Musician Friends)
Manson and Dennis Wilson from the Beach Boys met in 1968 and became fast friends, with Wilson even letting Manson and his followers stay at his Sunset Boulevard home until he kicked them out and they left for Spahn Ranch. Wilson even paid for Manson's studio time and introduced Manson to his music acquaintances including Gregg Jackobson (who also paid for Manson's studio time) and Terry Melcher who lived in the home Sharon Tate and Roman Polanski had rented.
4. Gary Hinman
The man Manson's followers killed before the Tate and LaBianca murders was originally just a target to get back the money he owned Manson. Eventually Manson allegedly slashed his ear with a sword and his followers then stabbed him to death.
5. George Spahn
Spahn was the 80-year-old landlord of the Spahn Ranch where Manson and his followers took up residence. Their living cost was free thanks to Manson telling some of his female followers to have sex with Spahn in exchange for the accommodations.
6. Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme
Fromme was one of Manson's most ardent and famous followers aside from people like Atkins and Patricia Krenwinkel thanks to her attempt to assassinate President Gerald Ford. Fromme was not arrested or charged in either the Tate of the LaBianca murders as she was not at either crime scene. However, during Manson and his followers' trials, she did camp outside the courtroom as a show of support. She had a huge role in taking care of George Spahn so Manson could keep living at the ranch free of charge; she even got her nickname from Spahn for the sound she'd make when he pinched her thigh. Super creepy, right? But, these characters would make for great TV.
