According to a report released by the Associated Press on Thursday, Saved by the Bell actor Dustin Diamond was sentenced to four months in jail after being convicted on two misdemeanor charges for disorderly conduct and carrying a concealed weapon. This charges were related to a stabbing that took place at a Wisconsin bar on Christmas Day 2014. The judge also ordered the man forever known as Screech to 15 months probation. Diamond is set to report to jail on Sunday.
On Dec. 25, 2014, Diamond and his girlfriend Amanda Schutz were at a bar where eventually a fight broke out. According to the 38-year-old actor, he took out a knife to protect himself and his girlfriend, who was allegedly punched by a woman at the bar. Then, as Diamond told jurors, he accidentally stabbed a man during the fight. Per witnesses who testified, Schutz pushed a woman at the bar and grabbed another woman's hand, which witnesses claimed caused the fight. Like Diamond, Schutz was punished for her actions and was convicted of disorderly conduct and fined $500.
On Thursday, Diamond apologized for the incident and the stabbing, saying, "I sincerely apologize to everyone involved. This was the single most terrifying experience of my life ... This is all I've been able to think about for the last six months."
On May 29, 2015, the former teen actor was convicted on two misdemeanor charges: disorderly conduct and carrying a concealed weapon, according to USA Today. At the time, he was cleared of a felony charge for recklessly endangering public safety. Per the judge who sentenced Diamond, the sentence "has to send a message to the community that we're just not going to live like this."
