Wear Summer Gingham Like Lizzy Caplan
Okay, so was Lizzy Caplan's appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night the best thing or what? Not only did she rib Jon Hamm about being a better actor than him, and for getting fired as "the guy on a WB girl series" (before going on to verbal sparring in a manner that really makes you wish Hamm hadn't been recast on the aforementioned series), she also absolutely killed the fashion game on the show. She wore a black and white gingham Lela Rose number, and it was, to quote Mary Poppins, "practically perfect in every way."
The dress itself had a fetchingly vintage vibe (especially as paired with her perfectly-deployed matte red lipstick and her classic black pumps), which was a nice callback to Caplan's stint on Masters of Sex, which had its first two seasons set in the late '50s and early '60s (the third will be set in 1966). Of course, the dress had a modern twist as well, with its asymmetrical hem, and mismatched gingham pattern — oh, and the shoes she wore en route to the studio? Black Birkenstock sandals that really made the ensemble the perfect look to rock all summer. Let's take a peek:
