Is Shawn B. Leaving 'The Bachelorette'?
Every season of The Bachelorette has a bit of a breakdown (or multiple breakdowns), and this time, the victim is one of my favorite contestants: Shawn. After confessing that he's falling in love with Kaitlyn on last week's episodes (and those feelings being reciprocated), he's realizing that competing for a woman he's actually in love with isn't his thing — hence the breakdown. After talking to a few of the guys about how hard it's been for him to see her with everyone else, he was so done. Shawn's meltdown on The Bachelorette could lead to him leaving the show, and although we won't actually find out what happens until next week, Kaitlyn's definitely going to be heartbroken about it.
In a conversation with a crew member, Shawn confessed that he's just about had it. Apparently, he and Kaitlyn spent a night together (according to him, just sleeping), and she flat out told him, "You're it. You're the one." And, now, thinking about the way the rest of the competition is going to go — especially fantasy suite dates, which he can't seem to come to terms with — Shawn has decided that he can't let himself get hurt like that. And even though this is the format that happens every single season, I have a hard time blaming him. He's right: It doesn't sound like fun.
So he decided to go talk to Kaitlyn himself and let her know that he's finished, complete with a very dramatic, tearful elevator ride up to her hotel room in Dublin. Unfortunately, once again, ABC gave us a "to be continued" ending, but whatever happens next is going to be pretty heart wrenching to watch.
I understand where Shawn's coming from, but at the same time, he fully knew what he was getting into when he signed up for this show. Kaitlyn has to play the game. She agreed to be the Bachelorette, and she can't quit halfway through the season because she thinks she found her guy, and I'd hope Shawn would understand that.
Whatever happens, I'm crossing my fingers Shawn decides to hang in there. He's too beautiful to lose!
