Minions Take Over British 'Vogue'

by Stephanie Chon

The iconic minions from Despicable Me and the upcoming movie Minions, may not be clearly understood by their "words," but according to the team of British Vogue , minions can speak fashion — and that is why these lovable and laughable pill-shaped creatures will be taking over the cover of Vogue next month. On British Vogue's YouTube channel, they uploaded a little documentary that dives into the details of how exactly these overall-wearing creatures serve as a fashion inspiration.

International editor of Vogue, Suzy Menkes starts off the documentary with a little intro and asks various questions throughout the video such as, "Is it true that the minions are the inspiration behind your whole fashion collection?," "Can you just describe to me the essence of the minions in just two words?", and "Was there a big language barrier with the minions?" Those who were answering the questions included designer, Giles Deacon, creative director, Alber Elbaz, and editor-in-chief of British Vogue, Alexandra Shulman.

The documentary showed the wide range of fairly positive answers that were also quite humorous. The inspiration behind choosing the minions for July's cover of Vogue was to appeal to the whole bad boy image, which Shulman articulated perfectly, "Fashion loves nothing more than the bad boy and these guys are probably the baddest of them all."
