'Star Wars' Jake Lloyd Arrested After Police Chase

by Tracy Dye

Some unfortunate news was released on Sunday, June 21. Former Star Wars actor Jake Lloyd was arrested, according to TMZ, after the actor allegedly attempted to abscond from Sheriff's deputies trying to pull him over. According to TMZ, "Cops say Lloyd was driving in Charleston, South Carolina, when Sheriff's deputies began pursuing him. The chase was underway and it went on for miles, into another county." The report claims that the chase ended when Lloyd "lost control of his car, which ran off the road, through a fence and into a wooded area where it struck several trees."

For those wondering why someone would ever attempt to outrun police officers (that typically never ends well), it was also revealed that Lloyd had allegedly been driving without a license, which is only one of the charges he is now facing, according to the report. The chase reportedly led the actor to an arrest for claims of "reckless driving, failure to stop, resisting arrest and driving without a license." Bustle has reached out for comment from Lloyd, but did not hear back at the time of publication.

Although Lloyd gained fame as the young Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, he hasn't acted since a role in 2005's Madison. Since over a decade has passed, fans may not even recognize the actor from the mugshot published by TMZ. However, Star Wars fans will likely remember the 26-year-old actor from the 1999 film, and his significant role as the young Skywalker.

Before he impressed audiences in Star Wars, Lloyd costarred in the 1996 family film, Jingle All The Way, playing protagonist Howard Langston's (Arnold Schwarzenegger) son, Jamie. He also made appearances in ER and The Pretender. Here's hoping that the next time he's in the headlines, it's for another lovable role, not an arrest.
