The 'Daddy's Home' Trailer Is Here
Being a dad can’t be easy. But being a stepdad? That's even harder. And, in the new film, Daddy’s Home, Will Ferrell has to do just that. In the first trailer for Daddy's Home, we're introduced to Ferrell as Brad, who gets into a bit of a war with his stepchildren’s biological father, Dusty (played by Mark Wahlberg). The trailer looks as heartbreaking as it is funny — and because Ferrell's depiction of Brad comes off as so sincere, you can’t help but completely love him. He's totally serious about caring for these kids! IT'S SO SWEET, GUYS. Full disclosure: Watching it made my heart melt a little.
When I was able to clean up the mess of my melted heart, though, I began to think about how awesome it would be have Ferrell as a dad. I mean, I understand that Brad is a fictional character and Ferrell is a real human being completely separate from Brad, but I'm convinced that no one is good enough an actor to fake this kind of adoration. Ferrell's amazingly talented, but I just don't think it's possible.
However, that's not the only reason Ferrell would probably make a great stepdad. In honor of the Daddy's Home trailer, here are nine other reasons Ferrell would be the best stepdad ever.
First, check out the trailer in full below:
And now...
1. He Would Sing You The Best Lullabies
And by “the best,” I mean “the most hilarious.”
2. He’d Cheer the Loudest at All Of Your Sports Games
So loud that you’d hear him over the boom box he probably brought along.
3. He’d Always Be Proud Of You
Even when you were super gross.
4. He’d Make The Best Breakfasts
Remember Elf? I'm sure it taught him well: Maple spaghetti. Maple meatloaf. Maple chili. MAPLE EVERYTHING.
5. He Knows Santa
Another Elf takeaway: Knowing Santa. Don’t downplay how much this would have come in handy in your life, especially when you were going through puberty and had been a total jerk all year.
6. He’d Never Take Away Your Phone
He’d just get you a cooler one.
7. He’d Build Your Confidence
Because his is so infectious.
8. He’d Believe In You
No matter what you did — like, even if you were doomed to fail, he'd support you. That's what good parents do!
9. He’d Embarrass You
But, then again, isn’t that what dads are for?
So... who else wants Ferrell to adopt them now?
