It's pretty much time to bow down to Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. The Oscar-winning moms are fearless with their choices when it comes to film roles and both prove that women over 45 can not only work consistently and powerfully in Hollywood, but that their personal styles still slay. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidmen attended a Women in Film event — the 2015 Crystal Lucy Awards — in dark outfits, ignoring the heat of summer and the fact that blacks and purples are usually reserved for autumnal months.
Bullock, who slayed in Stella McCartney at the premiere of Minions, turned up in a Monique Lhuillier ensemble with a draped, one-shoulder top and a purple, floral print skirt in a midi length. The strappy, gladiator-like heels added an instant (and large!) dose of sexiness to the classy outfit, giving it just a hint of edge.
The outfit wasn't super fitted, but it didn't overwhelm or overpower her frame with its flowiness, either. Bullock proved she is so, so deft at expertly meshing stylish with sexy.
It was another red carpet win for the actress, who swapped out her glossy, stick-straight locks in favor of a tumble of bedhead waves. She was supremely hot. With Bullock, 50 is the new 30 and her closet remains enviable and something I want to rummage through.
The purple in the skirt made the entire outfit pop.
The skirt had full, '50s housewife-like volume, which you can see from the side. It was so perky.
The top was a sparkly and charcoal, in terms of texture and hue.
What's a swingy skirt, and I love how Bullock relied on volume with her hair and her skirt. All. About. Balance.
Kidman donned a black Nina Ricci frock that landed just past the knee. I wish it was just a tad shorter. It had a sparkly texture, too. The Aussie was largely covered up and classy. When isn't she?!
From the front, you can see the flecks of red and blue in her sequined dress. She paired it with snakeskin-print Brian Atwood heels, mixing materials wonderfully.
OMG, adorbs! Kidman rocked a shower cap and shared smooches with her BFF Naomi Watts. Again, from the side angle, you can pick up all the colors in her dress.
Yeah, Kidman knew she looked killer in a clingy frock.
From this vantage point and in this lighting, the dress didn't look black at all. It looked liquid-like and red! It's a chameleon dress.
And I will leave you with the lip-lock between beautiful besties.
