I don't think anything screams "country strong" louder than rocking the stage just after giving birth. Not only did Carrie Underwood win Video of the Year at the CMT Music Awards for "Something In The Water," but her performance of "Little Toy Guns" at the ceremony brought the house down. She basically won the entire awards show, and CMT, and country music altogether.
Underwood also took home buckles for Female Video of the Year for the same video, and Collaboration of the Year for "Somethin' Bad" with Miranda Lambert. Yep, the CMT Music Award trophy is shaped like a belt buckle, because of course it is. She lead the nominations coming into the ceremony and did not disappoint. The only nominations she lost were those she was nominated for twice and just won for a different song. I mean come on!
Excuse me while I get personal about this queen for a moment because I am still a little in shock. I'm not trying to be old-fashioned, but Carrie Underwood just got off maternity leave and I am impressed. Nobody would have judged her for taking more time off. This week marked the country star's first major appearance and performances since her son with Mike Fisher was born three months ago, and it was amazing! She didn't miss a single beat. The stage looked like it was on fire. It was absolutely fabulous.
How can you not love Carrie Underwood? Even hostess Erin Andrews was in awe, and spilled to the audience that her hair smelled like "lavender and dreams." It seems that we know who Erin Andrews' "girl crush" is, which thanks to the Little Big Town song was one of the themes of the night!
Check out her amazing performance below. The night may have had a lot of dudes strutting around the stage, but women in country are clearly where it's at! Carrie Underwood is an absolute pro and we should expect nothing less.
