Vibrators have come a long way, both in terms of design and, erm... power, but they still tend to look like a vibrator. Enter Anna Maresova of Whoop.de.doo sex toys, with an adult, classy, and downright sexy take. She set out to design some adult toys that don't scream "Dildo!" quite as loud as some of the others on the market. She told Dezeen that "The core of the idea lay in the challenge of designing something that would be simple and inviting and capable of appealing to a wider group of women. I wanted to create sex toys that could break through the various misgivings in society." Her designs, which include strengthening balls and a traditional vibrator, among others, are rounded and covered in smooth, white silicon. And they do look decidedly grown-up. She explains the "beauty lies in simplicity – there are no obscenities, no gimmicks, no gadgets". At the moment there is a crowd-sourcing page on Indiegogo aimed at bringing the designs to production.
But it's not all about the looks, apparently the vibrator is shaped that way for a surprisingly practical reason: "The enlarged control end is the result of consultation with various doctors, who spoke of surprisingly large numbers of patients requiring surgical extraction of vibrators that had the same circumference along the entire length." Yikes.
