7 Actresses Who Could Play Michelle Tanner
The slight glimmer of hope I harbored that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen might appear in Fuller House, the Full House spinoff, is officially extinguished. To make matters even sadder, Bob Saget says they won't recast the part of Michelle Tanner. While I get that it could be awkward to have a different actress playing the role, I think there are a few that would be perfect. While there are a myriad of reasons to explain Michelle's absence on the new show (including a stint in rehab for her ice cream addiction), the show won't be complete without the trio of sisters.
Like Uncle Jesse, err John Stamos, we're "heartbroken" that the two Olsens won't return to the cast, but I think that, with the right actress in the role, Michelle 2.0 could be almost as amazing as the role originated by the twins. Let's keep in mind that, in 2015, Michelle Tanner is in her late 20s. She's (most likely) dropped signature phrases like "You got it, dude," but we hope she's still tight with Uncle Jesse. Whichever star were to fill the role would need to have that same chemistry with Stamos, in addition to Candace Cameron Bure and Jodi Sweetin.
I think these seven actresses have what it takes.
1. Emily VanCamp
Considering she just wrapped Revenge, this is the perfect time for VanCamp to start a new project. Let's hope that she keeps Emily Thorne's blood-thirsty ways at bay.
2. Chloe Grace Moretz
Sure, Moretz skews on the younger end of the age range for this role, but her acting is wise beyond her years. If she can hold her own in scenes with Alec Baldwin on 30 Rock, I have a feeling she can take on the Tanner clan.
3. Teresa Palmer
With a long list of movies in post-production, we think Palmer should head over to Netflix and inject her sunshine into the role of Michelle Tanner.
4. Britt Robertson
Fuller House would be a definitely contrast to Robertson's film Tomorrowland, which is why I'm totally in favor of it.
5. Analeigh Tipton
Tipton's Manhattan Love Story was short-lived, but the endearing girl-next-door quality she brought to the role convinces me that she'd be perfect as a Tanner.
6. Claire Holt
Between The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, Holt is no stranger to TV shows. Fuller House might not have a supernatural element (that I know of), but it would be cool to see Holt in a different sort of role.
7. Katrina Bowden
Best known for her role as Cerie on 30 Rock, Bowden is no stranger to comedy. She'd fit right in with Danny Tanner's cheesy humor. Stamos should definitely keep these actresses in mind just in case they ever need an emergency Michelle for an episode or two.
