The ultimate trend for those with a sweet tooth is undoubtedly dessert inspired fashion. You can have a lot of fun with sugar filled fashion; take Katy Perry and her delicious girl gang in her candy filled "California Gurls" music video. There are also tons of food inspired jewelry items and accessories out there to appease your inner foodie.
The fashion world is loving the food trend. It must be said that food and fashion combined make a delicious trend for foodies this summer 2015. IMO, I feel like it has all been building up to this season. Last year, fast food references were made on the Moschino catwalks and nearly everyone fell head over heels for the super cute and covetable Chanel milk bags. The high fashion houses set the scene in 2014 and the trend has trickled down to the masses and the high street stores today, and is sure to soon engulf us all like a soda tsunami. A personal favorite foodie fashion item of mine has got to be Charlotte Olympia's "Take Me Away" clutch bag, which resembles a Chinese takeout box — it is what food dreams are made of.
So in homage to this delectable trend, here's how to dress like your favorite desserts, because life's too short to be serious.
1. The Red Velvet Outfit
Red velvet cake (or cupcakes) are the decadent ladies of the cake world. They are refined, beautiful, and dramatic.
Burned Velvet Wine Split Skirt, $80, blackmilkclothing.com
This vampy maxi skirt would be perfect to channel red velvet vibes. Although it is long in length, its high splits up the sides ensure that this is one seductive skirt. It is alluring and leaves others wanting more just like the red velvet cake. Plus, it breaks a fashion "rule" that velvet is a winter material — because with those thigh high splits, you'll definitely be able to keep cool in the summer heat. It's fun to break the rules!
Vanilla Milk Top, $45, modcloth.com
This feminine pussy bow blouse will add a decadent feel to the red velvet outfit and is available in sizes S to 4X.
