11,000 Marbles Rolling Together Is So Satisfying

by Maya Kachroo-Levine

Everyone has a go-to time waster. Some of us like novelty Tumblr accounts, or artsy Instagram accounts, or websites devoted to puppy pictures. Some people are simply viral video junkies, looking to whatever is trending on any given day to give them their fix. If you're one of those people, and you're looking for a quick video pick-me-up, anything captivating will work: You're here for hilarity, or overwhelming adorableness, or a breathtaking view that's so very different from the view of your workspace. Basically, you want anything but to be bored. And yet this video of 11,000 marbles rolling has over 200,000 views, so it's pretty clear that people are pretty satisfied by watching 6 minutes of marbles rolling through a machine.

Turns out, we don't need to be stimulated in any kind of meaningful way. We'll totally settle for being oddly hypnotized by a bunch of vibrantly colored glass balls rolling through a maze-like machine. Even as I vaguely rip on the marble machine, I still kind of feel compelled to watch the video again.

A lot of thought went into making us all deliriously hypnotized. According to the YouTube page:

"This Marble Run 'Marble Tsunami' has 4 tipping containers holding totally more than 11 000 marbles. In this video you'll see the 10,000 marbles AND the 1,000 marbles container will tipping together causing more than 11,000 marbles rolling down the giant tracks. The sound is deafening, because of the noise, it will be equipped with noise damping housing and glass panels on the front."

Into it. So into it.

Don't try to tell me you aren't low key hypnotized right now.
