I'd bet a pretty penny that a lot of time and deliberation goes into outfit planning for the Olsen twins because everything they wear is photographed and immediately splashed across fashion blogs everywhere. That said, I can only imagine how much time went into Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's 2015 CFDA Awards red carpet outfits because not only are they (IMHO) the reigning queens of the red carpet, but they're also up for an award this evening: the Womenswear Designer of the Year. The talented duo is up against Joseph Altuzarra, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, and Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough for Proenza Schouler. Tough competition, for sure, but my fingers are crossed that The Row walks away winners!
As per usual, the twins wore outfits that not only represented their line, The Row, but also complemented one another. While some might think that two totally unique outfits would be better, I love that the sisters aren't afraid to dress with each other in mind. I'd argue that it's double the chicness!
Both Mary-Kate And Ashley rocked simple, yet somber all black ensembles that were equal parts conservative and cool, a style that I'd argue is their now signature look. Ashley wore a kimono-style silk blouse, trousers, and cream and black ballet flats, while Mary-Kate kept warm in a turtleneck and trousers layered underneath a velvet coat with loafers. They both kept their accessories and makeup minimal, carrying big black clutches and dainty silver earrings.
Update: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were awarded the Womenswear Designer of the Year! Get a (rare) glimpse of the Olsens smiling for their big win!
