Is Zayn Really Rejoining 1D?!

Let's be real: It would probably be a One Direction fan's actual dream if Zayn Malik were to come to his senses, stop hanging out with Naughty Boy, and rejoin the freaking band. And with the hashtag #WelcomeBackTo1DZayn trending worldwide on Twitter on Monday morning, many fans started freaking out that this was an actual possibility. But is it?

One Direction fans have become known for trending some pretty crazy topics, so, in general, it's probably best to take just about every 1D-related Twitter trend with a huge grain of salt and a healthy dose of skepticism. That being said, there's literally no accounting for the fan reaction when they see #WelcomeBackTo1DZayn because PLEASE GOD LET IT BE TRUE. But as it turns out, this is one trending topic that seems to have started straight from the mouths of some sneaky fans. And others are pissed.

According to The Telegraph, the trending topic was started by some Brazilian Directioners who were watching a One Direction special on the Brazilian television show Multishow. The special, the fans claimed, contained new interview clips of Malik revealing he was coming back to the band. As you can see here, they were pretty excited:

However, many fans (undoubtedly jaded by all of the rumors that consistently plague the fandom) immediately began questioning the validity of these claims. Because, yeah, it is pretty much too good to be true — not to mention the fact that it would kind of contradict Malik's own desire to be a "normal 22-year-old."

Of course, once fans realized the trending topic wasn't so much fact as it was fake, any chill they once had completely evaporated — much like Zayn Malik's entire existence in 1D. (OK, that was too soon.)

Zayn Malik crushed hearts everywhere when he quit One Direction in March (and then immediately hit the recording studio with his producer bestie Naughty Boy), so any rumors of him rejoining the band are obviously going to cause the fans to completely lose their ish. If only they were true...
