Rihanna went back to a reddish x auburn hair hue for the 2015 Met Gala. But it was chin-length with a flip. A mere few weeks later, Rihanna is revisiting the big, red, and long curly style that she has rocked repeatedly in the past. Given her skin tone, her hazel eyes, and her fearlessness with fashion, the singer can pull off any shade of red, even the darker, more mysterious hue she is currently pumping.
But as I've said before, do not get used to it, since RiRi gets bored quickly and swaps out colors and lengths as often as I brush my teeth. She did a similar 'do back in early April, but the style felt a bit more permed and the color was more orange. That said, the Bajan beauty seems to have a thing for bigger and redder; she likes the shade as extreme as the shape.
Clearly, Rihanna isn't following summer or warm weather fashion and style tenets, like sweeping your hair back into a ponytail to keep it off your neck and to keep you cool, or like swapping out autumn-appropriate, dark 'n' matte statement lip looks in favor of softer, lighter, and glossier ones!
She's just being Rih, as if we expected anything else from her.
Her hair has so much volume and a rusty richness in these shots.
There's also a lot of definition in these auburn tendrils. It reminds me of Farrah Fawcett's flip, but updated for the modern era.
Clearly, Rihanna digs this larger-than-life when it comes to her red strands, since she revisits them often. Here are 7 other times Rihanna went big and red with her locks. Of course there was always some new element introduced into each look and the repeats are never, ever exact.
1. Red Suicide Rolls
Rihanna went with a flame hue and suicide rolls, complete with voluminous waves a few years back.
2. Crimpin' Ain't Easy
Her hair was truly a blood red shade, but those crimpy curls? So unforgettable.
3. Big Curls Don't Cry
These poufy curls were similar in shape to what she's showing right now, but the color was much more concentrated and brighter.
4. Curl Girl
These super defined curls were enhanced by the glossy color and her megawatt, glossy smile.
5. Mermaid Waves
The shape was soft and loose, as was the color. She must know that red works for her, since she keeps coming back to it. She just can't quit it.
6. Big Red
Notice when Rihanna goes red, it's always big. There's either tons of shine, loads of volume, or seriously defined waves and curls. The shape always matches the boldness of the shade. Like so.
7. The Only Curl In The World
Rih and her glam squad always make sure her red is rich and unforgettable. How's that for a new sort of squad goals?
