Celebs React To The Loss Of Anne Meara

by Jamie Primeau

It's a sad day for the Stiller family — and comedy fans in general — as they mourn the loss of Anne Meara. On Saturday, the talented actress died at the age of 85. Her 60-year career featured an array of TV and movie roles, sometimes appearing alongside her son Ben Stiller in his well-known comedies. Speaking of family, Meara got her start doing improv with her husband Jerry Stiller, as half of the comedy duo "Stiller and Meara."

From appearances on everything from The King of Queens to Law & Order: SVU, Meara always carried her characters with grace and/or hilarity (depending on the part). Whether you remember her brief cameo in Zoolander or recurring role as Steve's mother in Sex And The City , there's a good chance Meara has appeared on your TV screen at some point. A quick scroll through IMDB proves she truly made the most of her memorable career.

After the tragic news broke on Sunday afternoon, friends and fans of the longtime actress took to Twitter and other social media sites to share their thoughts and send condolences, including a sweet tribute from Leah Remini, who worked with Meara for eight years on The King of Queens.

Here's a round-up of reactions:
