Adam Lambert's "Another Lonely Night" Is Gorgeous
Stop what you're doing right now and listen to this: On Thursday evening, Adam Lambert premiered a new song called "Another Lonely Night" and it's absolutely gorgeous. The melancholy electronic ballad, which the American Idol runner-up co-wrote with Swedish hit-makers Max Martin and Ali Payami (Taylor Swift's "Style"), is lifted from his upcoming third studio album, The Original High. Caution: When you hear the "Another Lonely Night" lyrics for the first time, you might get a little emotional. Don't say I didn't warn you! Over a piano, Lambert sings on the first verse:
Alone in the dark, hole in my heart
Turn on the radio
And the words fall out but they've got no place
To go
Wasted on you
High on the fumes
Know I should let you go
But the world won't stop and all I got is
Your ghost
Oh-oh whoa
Oh-oh whoa
An unexpected, icy-cool EDM drop ushers in the powerful chorus:
Another day, another lonely night
I would do anything to have you by my side
Another day, another lonely night
Don't wanna throw away another lonely life
It really feels like Lambert is channeling tears-on-the-dance-floor expert Robyn here — and I'm super into it. The Original High is shaping up to be quite an album! Check out "Another Lonely Night" below.
"Another Lonely Night" is available on iTunes now. The Original High arrives on June 16.
