It's the question every Gilmore Girls fan asks about Rory: which team are you on? It comes down to four choices: Team Dean, Team Jess, Team Logan, or Team Rory. It's no secret that Gilmore Girls fans argue about who would have been the best fit for the youngest Gilmore — even the cast has an opinion. Four days ago, Matt Czuchry said Rory rejecting Logan was the right choice. You know who else is opening up about Rory's love life? Luke Danes, in real life. While chatting with the Gilmore Guys podcast on Wednesday, Scott Patterson said he is Team Dean. Say whaaat?
That's right, Patterson said Dean Forester (Jared Padalecki) was the right choice over his own TV nephew, Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia). He said,
I think Team Dean. He was the original one. He was the most soulful and the most poetic. I think it was Dean. But Jess was so obviously the wrong one — he was so obviously the train wreck. He was the fling that she had to have. It was always Dean because he was so in love with her.
Who else is in utter shock? Never did I think I would hear these words come out of Patterson's mouth — maybe that's because when I see him, I see Luke. Yes, I know the actor isn't really the Stars Hollow diner owner, but what Gilmore Girls fan doesn't equate the cast with their characters?
You know who else would be mind-blown by this declaration? Luke Danes. I'm pretty sure Luke would not be happy with this choice. First of all, Luke would probably pick Team Jess, because it's his nephew. To clarify, seeing as Luke only ever wanted the best for Rory, he would probably only want her to be with stable Jess — not the wild kid who first came to town. Secondly, Luke and Dean did not really get along. Remember all those times they argued? Yeah, they definitely weren't besties.
To say the actor and his character would argue over who Rory should have ended up with is an understatement, especially if Patterson is as hot-headed as Luke.
