Need something to get you through those Thursday early afternoon blues? Stop whatever you're doing, no matter how important it is, and listen to this song: It's The National's Hunger Games: Catching Fire track, "Lean", set to be released on the soundtrack later this month. Obviously, since it's a National song, it's good, but trust me — you are not prepared for just how good this track is.
A quick rundown of the track: Matt Berninger's vocals are as flawless and baritone as ever, and those lyrics? "And I can see your fever's on the rise/ I can see the water's in your eyes/ And I can see the way the water leads/ Love will lead us all to smithereens." Be still my cold, cold heart.
"Lean" is the latest track from the Catching Fire soundtrack, which released an excellent snippet of The Lumineers' "Gale Song" last month. Judging by the quality of these two songs and the tracklist, it seems that the entire soundtrack has the potential to be a real hit — you really can't beat The National, Lorde, The Lumineers, Coldplay, and The Weeknd all on the same album. Dare I say, this album is shaping up to be even better than the first Hunger Games soundtrack, and that thing had Arcade Fire on it.
You can check the song out below. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack will be available for download and purchase on Nov. 19, prior to the film's release in theaters on Nov. 22.
