17 Unconventional Eyebrow Styles That Helped Me Embrace My Own Arches

Like fashion, beauty has its own set of trends that extend beyond spring lip colors and pastel nail polishes. Beauty trends even apply to the shape of your brows and lucky for me, strong eyebrows are making a comeback. As someone who is 100 percent Italian-American, strong eyebrows are really my only option. I couldn't be happier to see women and men with bushy brows be celebrated in fashion.

But I haven't always been so happy to embrace my fuller brows. As soon as a kid on the school bus told me that I had a mustache, my mom took me straight to the salon to get my eyebrows and lip waxed. I was only in fourth grade. And ever since, I've had a love-hate relationship with my brows. At the time, thinner arched brows were the trend and my brows had plans to stay full unless I wanted to be plucking or waxing everyday. My daily beauty routine maxes out at about 15 minutes so adding daily eyebrow maintenance wasn't gonna happen. So for years, I waxed my brows when necessary and tried to ignore the fact that I really didn't feel confident about them.

Over the past year, I've started keeping up more on makeup and beauty trends and I realized there's isn't just one right way to have a brow. Thin or thick, painted blue or covered in rhinestones, all brows are beautiful damnit! I've fallen in love with avant garde and unconventional brows created by talented makeup artists whose work really belongs in the MoMA.
