Imagine this in Julia Roberts' Pretty Woman voice as you read it: Jennifer Lopez has big news. Big. Huge! According to a post on her Instagram page Tuesday night, Jennifer Lopez announced a residency at Las Vegas' Planet Hollywood resort that will begin in January 2016. Seriously, between this and Britney Spears' residency at Planet Hollywood, the Vegas resort is quickly becoming every pop music fan's DREAM vacation spot.
The details are fairly vague at the moment, but here's what we know so far: According to E! Online, tickets for Lopez's residency will go on sale in May 2015. No word on how long the residency will last — it's worth noting that Spears' residency with Planet Hollywood was recently extended through 2017, so it could very well be for a while if Lopez's contract negotiations go at all similarly — but the show will begin on January 20, 2016.
Also unknown is what this means for Lopez's role in the finale season of American Idol, which is set to premiere in January 2016 on Fox. According to initial reports, Lopez is expected to be involved as a judge during the show's farewell season, but it remains to be seen if this will change in any way — or if Lopez simply won't perform in Las Vegas during the nights that American Idol films in Los Angeles. (The two cities aren't particularly far from one another, so this wouldn't be a stretch.)
Until more details are released, however, Lopez did gift fans with his epic teaser announcing her residency, accompanied by the following caption: "So excited!!! This is going to be the show I've always dreamed of creating. Tickets on sale Saturday, May 16. #JLoVegas"
