For the second year in a row, Glee actress and singer Lea Michele is honoring Cory Monteith on his birthday. In 2013, Monteith tragically died from mixing heroin and alcohol, at the young age of 31. Ever since his death, fans, family, and friends of the actor have continued to pay tribute to the actor, who will forever be known for playing Finn Hudson on FOX's Glee. Monday, May 11 would have been Monteith's 33rd birthday, and even though he's gone, Michele continues to remember her former boyfriend.
On Monday, Michele tweeted a beautiful tribute in honor of Monteith's birthday. She shared a photo of him playing the drums in character as Finn Hudson, while captioning the photo as follows: "I know you're serenading everyone right now.. We love you Cory! Happy Birthday.."
As mentioned above, this isn't the first time Michele's memorialized Monteith on his birthday. In 2014, she also shared a photo, but that time it was of the two of them together. She wrote with the photo: “The biggest heart and most beautiful smile.. In all of our hearts.. We love you so. Happy Birthday.”
There's no doubt Michele will forever remember and love Monteith, which she proved during her 2013 win for Choice TV Actress at the Teen Choice Awards. During her acceptance speech, she said,
He was very special to me, and also to the world, and we were very lucky to witness his incredible talent, his handsome smile, and his beautiful beautiful heart. So whether you knew him personally or just as Finn Hudson, Cory reached out and he became a part of all of our hearts. And that’s where he’ll stay forever.
