5 Headpieces You Can Rock Just Like SJP
Sarah Jessica Parker, Rihanna, Selena Gomez, and more all rocked some serious headdresses at the 2015 Met gala this past Monday. The celebrities' accessory choices paid tribute to the party's theme, "China: Through the Looking Glass," and each included their own personal flair. Just like sheer dresses, it's clear that head gear is going to be a fierce summer trend. Time to whip out your confidence and bobby pins.
Headwear may seem like an intimidating fashion choice (my last recollection of head gear definitely involved braces and pain), but it really can be totally wearable, and elegant. We may not all have the help of designers like Philip Treacy for Sarah Jessica Parker, but that's no excuse for not trying out a fun, quirky trend.
With the right attitude, headpieces can be a great way to add a little something special to a loose sundress or cute swimsuit. Heck, who am I to stop you from even wearing one to work? I scanned the Internet, and these are hands-down my top five versatile headpiece picks for summer. Now if only I had a beach...
1. Golden Pearl Comb
OK, this is technically a "comb" and it's technically for weddings, but whatever. This hand-painted bloom from BHLDN is gorgeous and a fun way to channel Selena's white flower piece from the Met. With its pale leaves and pearl center, I would totally rock this on a third date with a little black dress and heels.
2. Head Chain
This sweet bo-ho head chain with a turquoise stone from ThreeBirdNest is making me want to get to the ocean faster than asap. After a long day in the waves, this piece would be the perfect accessory to turn my swimsuit and cover up into a restaurant-appropriate outfit.
3. Multicolored Flower Crown
If you know deep down in your heart that you're a hippie, then this is the headpiece for you. Floraclectic makes every single flower headband by hand with real dried flowers. Whether you're wearing this piece in a meadow or concrete jungle, chances are high you'll feel a bit like a fairy and honestly, who doesn't want that?
4. Crystal Headband
If you're willing to drop some dough, this Rosa Swarovski crystal headband manages to walk the line between glamorous and dainty. It'd be great for fun get togethers with friends (you know, the ones where you hangout in cool, minimalist spaces solely for an Instagram pic), or anytime you need a little princess-like sparkle.
5. Hair Charms
Remember when I said you should consider wearing headpieces to work? Well, depending on your office dress code, these hair charms are a great way to sneak in a touch of glam to your look. Remember, a statement piece doesn't have to be big and loud to make an impact.
