Will Loki Be In 'Avengers 3'?

by Martha Sorren

All I have to say is that Avengers: Age Of Ultron was sorely lacking in Loki screen time. I was disappointed that Tom Hiddleston didn't appear in the Age of Ultron, especially after Idris Elba hinted that they'd filmed a scene together for the superhero flick. Unfortunately that ended up on the cutting room floor, but there's at least hope that Loki will be back for Avengers 3. While not confirmed by the actor himself, there are some pretty strong rumors that suggest Tom Hiddleston has a part in Avengers: Infinity War.

In November 2014, Digital Spy reported that Marvel president Kevin Feige confirmed Loki was in for both parts of Avengers: Infinity War. It's worth noting that their report is no longer available, but that doesn't necessarily mean it was false. Perhaps it was removed to avoid spoiling Loki's return. There's a lot of evidence to support Loki's return to the Avengers films, so I'm willing to wager he'll make an appearance in at least one of the parts.

After all, Loki disappointed Thanos in Avengers, so it's likely that Loki is going to be the super villain's target when he rises to power. As ComicBookMovie.com points out, "The Other... warned Loki that there would be consequences if he failed his master, and things really couldn't have gone any worse seeing as Thanos lost a huge chunk of his army, one of the Infinity Stones, and the Tesseract." Loki needs to face those consequences and Infinity War is the perfect place for that to play out.

Additionally, Kevin Feige did hint that some characters would be returning for the epic Marvel showdown. "There are a lot of people from the movies in Infinity War," he told Screen Rant. Perhaps Loki is one of those people. Plus, Joss Whedon said that Thanos isn't the only villain that will be featured in Avengers 3, opening the door for others like Loki to return. "I'm sure there'll be plenty more [villains] in that monstrous epic," he said of the two-part film.

It would be foolish for Marvel to pass up on the opportunity to feature such a beloved actor and villain. His presence in the film guarantees an audience, but it also guarantees a really good time. Loki is a superb character who only serves to enhance the superhero universe. Besides, since we were denied Hiddleston screen time in Avengers 2, Marvel owes us one.
