There Was A Lot Of Sonja Drama On 'RHONY'
The cast members of any Real Housewives franchise never miss an opportunity to shill their latest product on the show. The Real Housewives of New York 's Sonja Morgan is no exception. Through the years, we've seen her talk about her global lifestyle brand that includes everything from a toaster oven to movies to a clothing line. Unfortunately, we've never actually been able to see any of these products, and many of the Housewives are sick of it, which made Sonja promptly go ballistic at Dorinda Medley's cocktail party, naturally.
Luann de Lesseps and Heather Thomson confronted Sonja at the party about why they weren't invited to the presentation of her clothing line earlier in the week but Bethenny Frankel had been. Sonja wasn't wrong at all to invite Bethenny. She has become a hugely successful businesswoman with her Skinnygirl brand, and she does have a shapewear line. However, Heather, who founded the shapewear company Yummie Tummie, and Luann, who recently launched a clothing line on the retail website and network EVINE Live, were hurt that Sonja wasn't taking advantage of their expertise.
Yeah, it would've been beneficial to Sonja for her to seek their advice on her new clothing line, but let's be real. Heather and Luann were probably just jealous of Bethenny and just offended that Sonja didn't ask them for help for their sake, not hers.
It's a good thing Heather and Luann weren't at that presentation because they probably would have ripped Sonja to shreds. She didn't have any clothes, distributors, or buyers lined up for a scheduled launch of Summer 2015. I was surprised the usually abrasive Bethenny was so nice about it.
But that's probably why Sonja didn't invite them to her presentation in the first place. Every time she has asked a Housewife for help with her lifestyle brand in the past, whether it was Heather, Luann, or even Kristen Taekman's husband Josh, they have all told her the cold, hard truth that she needs to stop being so delusional and focus if she ever wants to get this so-called lifestyle brand off the ground.
Sonja didn't want to hear any of this during Dorinda's cocktail party, and she kept trying to avoid talking to Heather and Luann about it. They eventually saw eye-to-eye, and Sonja agreed to invite them over to her showroom when she's free next, but I sincerely doubt that is going to happen. The fantasy land that Sonja lives in seems like too much fun for her to ever leave.
