This Model Has Two Vaginas. Yup, Two.

Cassandra Bankson is a self-described “Model. Student. & Online Media Personality.” The YouTube star also has two vaginas. She began her channel in 2010 to chronicle her life as a model struggling with acne, but last July, she took to YouTube to talk frankly to her nearly 775,000 subscribers about a different aspect of her health: her discovery that she two vaginas, as well as two cervixes, uteri, and fallopian tubes. She has double of the whole... lady sha-bang. And now she's super interested in talking to everyone about it! Which is great! Bodies are so cool and weird and amazing.

Bankson found out about her dual reproductive system by accident. In the video, she explains that she went to the doctor because of suspected kidney trouble. During the course of her treatment, her doctor discovered that she had was missing a kidney and was carrying an extra vagina. She describes her doctor as saying, "You have a duplex or partial duplex [kidney] on one side, you have no kidney on the other side, and, as I suspected, you have two vaginas!” We can probably all relate to Bankson’s reaction: “And I looked at her, I’m like, 'What?!'" She explains that, apparently, when people have only one kidney, it’s not uncommon for them to have dual reproductive systems.

Bankson says that the discovery explains some aspects of her previous reproductive health. She told ­People,

Ever since I was younger, even without knowing about this condition, I've gone to the doctor because I was bleeding for 23-28 days and I would have two periods a month. Or I would have crippling cramps, I couldn’t move – or my bowels would just not want to behave because the cramps were so bad and mood swings.

Right now it’s unclear how having two vaginas will impact Bankson’s sex life and reproductive capabilities. Her physician, Dr. Harris, explains to People,

A lot of women don’t even know they have this condition and find out when they're pregnant. So it's possible it won't even bother her in a sexual way. There's a possibility there could be some issues getting pregnant but those can be dealt with.

Bankson seems to be handling the news with good spirits, saying in her video, “What can I say? I’m twice the woman!” While I'm not keen to co-sign the sentiment that having certain reproductive organs is a measure of someone's womanhood, I appreciate her enthusiasm!
