On Monday night, something glorious happened for Lizzie McGuire fans. There was a mini- Lizzie McGuire reunion with Hilary Duff (Lizzie McGuire), Jake Thomas (Matt McGuire), and Lalaine (Miranda Sanchez). Not only did Disney Channel fans jump up and down for joy upon seeing the photo shared by Thomas, but many immediately wondered if a full-fledged reunion would happen anytime soon. Well, MTV News caught up with Jake Thomas and he dished about the trending photo, which cast members he stays in touch with, and if a Lizzie McGuire reunion will happen sooner rather than later.
Funnily enough, Thomas and Lalaine (who are friends after reconnecting a few months ago) were bowling when they heard Duff's voice a few lanes over. After discovering that it was indeed their old fictional BFF and sister who neither had seen in over 10 years, the two thought it'd be amusing to send her a drink. As soon as Duff had the drink in her hand, she looked over and spotted her former cast mates and it turned out to be the reunion none of them were expecting.
Thomas revealed, all three "hugged and talked and caught up a little bit." He added, "[Duff] looked at me and she’s like, ‘You’re a man!’ She kept saying, ‘You’re a man! This is weird!’”
FYI, Thomas was not aware Duff was on a date at the time of their mini-reunion. He said, “I had no idea she was on a Tinder date! No clue. After [we saw her], it was probably a hot topic between her and her friends, so I don’t know if it altered the night in a good way or a bad way.” Seeing as Duff told Ryan Seacrest that the date went OK and didn't dissuade her from going on another one with a different guy she met on Tinder, I don't think Thomas or Lalaine ruined the night.
Anyways, let's move on to the most important part: the Lizzie McGuire reunion. Seeing as Thomas talks to Lalaine, Adam Lamberg (Gordo), Robert Carradine (Sam McGuire), and even Clayton Snyder (Ethan Craft), Thomas seems to be the key to making this much-anticipated reunion happen.
He remained tight-lipped when discussing it, but he did say in a blog he wrote Wednesday, "perhaps there's something in the works very soon." Also, he told MTV News, “We’ll see, but I can’t comment on anything right now."
That seems like good news, right? Here's hoping!
