After years of getting our hopes up, treating Parks and Rec and Parenthood like crap, and making some other questionable decisions, NBC is making things up to us. The Office's Ellie Kemper will star in a new sitcom written and produced by Tina Fey and her 30 Rock partner, Robert Carlock. Words cannot describe how exciting this is.
When both The Office and 30 Rock ended earlier this year, it seemed that Parks and Rec was the last vestige of NBC's smart comedy lineup, but now the network is plucking an amazing woman from each series to create the world's funniest show. Well, that's what I'm assuming, because how could it not be? Kemper consistently stole scenes as Dunder Mifflin's naive secretary, and stood out as an innocent newlywed in Bridesmaids, and I definitely don't need to list Fey's credentials.
NBC apparently has a lot of faith in the comedy too, as they've already ordered 13 episodes to premiere fall 2014. In case the involvement of two of these two amazing women isn't enough evidence that you should watch whatever this show ends up being called, the premise is hilarious too: Kemper will play a woman who moves to New York after escaping a doomsday cult.
Wear out all of those 30 Rock references now, nerds, because you're going to have a new show to obsess over next year.
