Follow The Journalists Tweeting From Baltimore
On Tuesday, the city of Baltimore was recovering from widespread riots that left streets in the city's west and northwest neighborhoods strewn with broken glass and flamed-out cars. As members of the National Guard marched through the damaged streets Tuesday morning, Baltimore residents began pouring out of their homes, ready to pick up the pieces of their neighborhood torn apart by civil unrest. That unrest, of course, stems from the recent death of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old African-American man who died on April 19 after suffering a grave spinal cord injury while in police custody. Dozens of journalists are tweeting from the ground right now in Baltimore, interviewing ordinary residents of West Baltimore, including the Mondawmin neighborhood, where a mall was looted and partially damaged Monday night.
These journalists are tweeting constantly, uploading photos, videos and quotes from peaceful protesters, as well as filtering breaking news from the Baltimore Police Department and other city officials.
