New Clip Of Bruce Jenner's Children Released
While Bruce Jenner's big interview with Diane Sawyer aired on Friday, April 25, on Monday, Good Morning America released additional clips of Bruce Jenner's children talking about their father's involvement in their lives, along with a clip of Bruce explaining being less involved during their "formative years." Burt and Brandon Jenner, along with Bruce's daughter Casey Marino, were featured in the new clips, and it sounds like they're all looking forward to the future.
Casey, who stays out of the spotlight more than any of their other Jenner children, explained, "We have a very complex relationship. He's disappeared out of or lives, especially out of my life, so I'm looking forward to this next chapter." Brandon echoed her sentiment, saying, "Us missing time of our lives is still probably the hardest thing for us to deal with. We're trying not to look back. We're just looking forward."
As for Bruce, he admits that he wasn't the most involved when his children were younger: "The big, formative years for them. I was really struggling with these issues. I talked with all the boys about this, after the fact, that, yeah, I didn't do a good job. And I apologize to my kids for that."
For those who watch Keeping Up With the Kardashians, this may sound familiar. There was an ongoing storyline about Bruce's son Brody feeling resentment about his father's lack of involvement in his life when he was growing up. The exact reason Bruce was less active in his life wasn't revealed on the show, but now that Bruce has opened up about his struggles with gender identity, there seems to be more clarity for his children overall; although Brody was not featured in the new clips. As Burt puts it, "The one thing I think that we have gained that means more to us than anything is the honesty." Casey added, "I personally hope that this is, that this journey leads to the place that he wants it to."
Brandon added that he feels pride in being a Jenner in a way he has never felt before, and that really says it all. Brandon told Diane Sawyer, "In seeing him come out to me and explain his true self, and I was more proud right then to carry the last name Jenner and to be a part of the family than at any time before."
Editor’s Note: Per Jenner’s stated preference, Bustle will continue referring to Jenner using he/his pronouns for the time being. We will follow his lead and make any changes to this policy as needed in the future.
