Rob Kardashian Offers Support To Bruce Jenner
I have to say, it's been incredibly inspiring to see the way the world has rallied in support of Bruce Jenner following his interview with Diane Sawyer Friday's episode of 20/20, in which he publicly revealed for the first time that, "for all intents and purposes, I am a woman." The Kardashian and Jenner families have been incredibly supportive of Bruce's courageous move, and it's clear from watching the interview that the valuable support of his family means the world to him. Now, another member of his family has offered his support as well: Late Friday night, Rob Kardashian has offered his own words of love and admiration for Bruce Jenner.
Rob has, in recent years, drifted a bit from the Kardashian/Jenner empire, keeping more of a low profile away from the glare of the paparazzi while appearing less and less on Keeping Up With The Kardashians. While the 28 year old may be undergoing his own personal journey of growth and development, there's no denying that Bruce — who was integral in Rob's upbringing in every way — has had a profound effect on who he's become as a man and a human being in general. This was made even more obvious in the message Rob shared on Twitter after Bruce's interview aired on Friday night.
Short and simple, but incredibly moving. After all, what makes a better role model than someone who conjures the courage to speak out about an issue that still faces considerable ignorance and prejudice in society? And Rob's support for Bruce didn't end there — he also retweeted messages of support posted by fellow celebrities.
Despite the fact that previous to these tweets, Rob hadn't posted on his account since the end of March (and has largely avoided using the social networking site in general in recent months), it was extra touching to see Rob join the chorus of the rest of his family in rallying around Bruce in this moment as he embarks on the next phase of his life. After all, the support and love coming from the people who know him best can only help make the transition easier, and for that, I think we can all be grateful.
Editors Note: Per Jenner’s stated preference, Bustle will continue referring to Jenner using he/his pronouns for the time being. We will follow his lead and make any changes to this policy as needed in the future.
