Gigi Hadid's Got Some Beauty Don'ts for Us

by Shea Simmons

It's not exactly shocking to anyone when I say that Gigi Hadid is one of the most beautiful people working today. In fact, Gigi Hadid made People's 100 Most Beautiful list this year, so it's kind of official. In her interview, the model sat down with the glossy to talk about some of her best beauty secrets as well as give us some great life advice!

Hadid has flawlessly rocked the runways of fashion month, but the Guess campaign star seems to prefer a more natural look than some of the ones she worked on the catwalk. Hadid credits her mother, Yolanda Foster of Real Housewives fame, for her love of natural beauty. She explains to People:

“I’ve gotten a lot of beauty advice from my mom, but probably the best thing was that she never wore too much makeup and always did really simple looks. I grew up thinking that was beautiful. So when I started experimenting with makeup that’s what I went for. If you’re not a makeup artist and you just try to go for the big looks, it just gets the best of you.”

While I doubt makeup could ever get the best of Gigi, her comments totally make sense. When I try to rock dramatic winged liner, I end up looking like I got punched in the face. Winged liner may be one of my favorite looks, but Gigi's signature is definitely those gorgeous full eyebrows of hers. In the interview, Hadid admits that she never actually touches her brows. The model explains that strays may be cleaned up, but the lucky girl just has naturally full arches.

Hadid says, “I don’t touch them. On set sometimes if there are little stragglers and the makeup artist wants to clean them up on the bottom I’ll let them, but it’s never enough to shape my eyebrows. I just don’t touch them because I’m scared of like messing them up.” The star's got a good point. Over-plucking brows can be a death sentence if you're looking to get the model's signature look.

Outside of the model's talk of brows and beauty, Hadid's got some great life advice as well. She explains that you shouldn't be afraid to venture out on your own. Gigi tells People that models aren't always allowed to bring guests to events. Going solo seems to have bolstered Gigi's confidence, and she hopes to teach her younger sister, Bella, the same things. When Bella's got an event to attend, Gigi explains, "...sometimes I’ll make her go by herself. It just forces you to make friends … and learn how to communicate with people. When you buckle down and go alone, you make so many more friends because you don’t have your security blanket with you.”

What we've learned for Hadid's People interview is basically that not only is the model stunning, but she's got some great beauty and general life advice for us. I don't know about you, but I love a girl who appreciates natural beauty and encourages others to grow. Thanks for the advice, Gigi!
