Yep, Michelle Obama Watches 'Real Housewives' Too
Celebrities are just like us. Well, maybe they are not exactly like us, but they do have some things in common with us plebes. They, too, can succumb to a reality television addiction. This is especially true when it comes to watching the Real Housewives franchise. Many stars have come forward to admit their penchant for watching the reality TV show that I am also obsessed with. Some of them are pretty open about their addiction to every single show in the franchise. Others have been pushed in interviews to reveal a "guilty pleasure TV show." No matter how public they are about their devotion, it cannot be denied that there is a strong Real Housewives celebrity fandom.
So who loves the Real Housewives? Everyone from actors, to models, to rappers, to respected news anchors, and apparently, even the First Lady of the United States. Yes, you read that right, rumor has it that Michelle Obama is a big fan of the television franchise. Don't worry, you're not the only one who gets excited for every new episode. There are plenty of celebrities who feel the same exact way about your favorite (and least favorite) ladies. So who are these celebrity Real Housewives fanatics?
Chrissy Teigen
Chrissy Teigen is a great one to start with because she is probably one of the most vocal celebrity Real Housewives fans. She live tweets about episodes all the time and she has some strong opinions. The model is not embarrassed at all to be such an avid fan of the franchise.
Jonah Hill
Well, this one really surprised me. There are not many men who openly admit to being Real Housewives fans, but apparently Jonah Hill is a major fan of the Atlanta series. So much so that for his birthday Hill got to meet up with RHOA cast members Phaedra Parks and Cynthia Bailey. They even brought him birthday gifts! That wasn't his only RHOA encounter though. Hill explained during an interview with Wendy Williams, "I pulled up next to Nene Leakes in a car in Atlanta where I was shooting a movie and I freaked out. I texted all my friends."
Zooey Deschanel
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but what about a television screenshot? That has to exhibit a little bit more, right? Zooey Deschanel Instagrammed a sad screen shot of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member Lisa Vanderpump with her dog Giggy. That was enough to get her message across.
Diddy
Diddy watches Real Housewives? I'm pretty shocked by this news, but I don't blame him. In an E! interview, Diddy revealed that he is a "reality show junkie." He continued, "My favorite Housewife, hands down, is Nene [Leakes]. I'm an Atlanta Housewives fanatic and I do love the New Jersey Housewives, too. I like the family feud thing... I'm not even embarrassed to say it. You'll even find me in chat rooms." I had no idea that there were chat rooms, but I have a new appreciation for Diddy now.
Kristin Chenoweth
Kristin Chenoweth is nothing short of a Real Housewives super fan. She has been vocal about her fandom in interviews. She's been on the Bravo talk show Watch What Happens Live plenty of times to discuss the latest Real Housewives news and episodes. Plus, she is an avid tweeter of her RH love. There are not many fans who are more into this franchise than Housewives expert Kristen Chenoweth — well maybe me, but I'm not a celebrity.
Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer Lawrence is pretty much the most endearing celebrity ever, so I am not at all surprised that she is into watching Real Housewives. How devoted is she? During an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman , Lawrence explained the details of a medical scare that she had: "I put my hand on the anesthesiologists chest and said, 'Will you please just promise me something? Will you promise me you'll watch Real Housewives of Beverly Hills?" That is a girl after my own heart right there.
Snooki
It makes sense that Snooki, a product of reality television, would be a fan of watching reality television, and she really loves The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, especially cast member Kyle Richards. The two have tweeted each other plenty of times. Richards even tweeted Snooki for her birthday.
Megan Fox
Megan Fox cannot help watching the Real Housewives series. She even got her husband Brian Austin Green in on watching. In an E! interview, Fox admitted "I watch all of the Housewives. Brian watches them, too. They're addicting. And we talk about it. We're like, 'Could you believe Teresa did that?' They're like drugs those shows. It's my worst vice for sure." She even records the episodes in case she's too busy to watch live: "We watch them together and we record them if we're going to be out of town. There's nothing wrong with it. It's just junk food for your brain."
Anderson Cooper
As a hard-hitting newsman, you probably wouldn't suspect that Anderson Cooper would be so into reality television, but he has actually been very vocal about his loyal Real Housewives viewership. He has professed his love for his favorite housewife, RHOA 's NeNe Leakes on many occasions, and has called out the Housewives for their (lack of) singing abilities. Needless to say, Cooper is passionate about all things Real Housewives related.
Eddie Redmayne
I find it kind of odd that such a serious actor enjoys watching reality television, but it honestly makes me so happy. While promoting The Theory of Everything, Eddie Redmayne told Us Weekly , "I come home from trying to pretend to know about astronomy and physics all day and turn on The Real Housewives." I think I just found my celebrity soulmate.
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga is such a big Real Housewives fan that she actually had the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills ladies star in her music video for the song "G.U.Y." That's a super fan's dream come true. I can't imagine what they talked about, but I wish those private conversations were filmed.
Michelle Obama
This is not something I expected at all. I feel like Michelle Obama has a lot going on, so I am kind of shocked that she watches TV in general, let alone reality television. But Real Housewives super fan Chrissy Teigen revealed on Watch What Happens Live that Obama is a fan of the franchise, saying, "She's definitely a fan of Atlanta, which I am as well." I feel like the biggest shock here is that Teigen and Obama are friends on some level, but I'm all about it.
