While I can't say this news comes as that much of a surprise, it's one of those things that's good to know — like, on par with the sky still being blue, or Tom Hiddleston being adorable. According to Marvel, Netflix has renewed Daredevil for Season 2, which is set to premiere on the streaming platform next year. This news comes only a little over a week after Season 1 of the superhero series premiered on Netflix (the episodes went up for streaming on April 10), so it's clear that the buzz surrounding this show — as well as the fact that it's completely awesome — has paid off, a lot.
With Season 2 does come some talent shake-up — specifically, behind-the-scenes. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Season 2 of Daredevil will proceed with all new showrunners, specifically Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Doug Petrie, and Sons of Anarchy's Marco Ramirez. Both Petrie and Ramirez worked with Season 1 showrunners Drew Goddard and Steven DeKnight.
In a statement, DeKnight said of Season 2: "While previous commitments unfortunately prevent me from continuing on with Daredevil into its second season... I could not be happier that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are carrying the torch. They were invaluable collaborators during our first season, and I for one can't wait to see what they do with the show moving forward."
No word yet on when Daredevil Season 2 will premiere on Netflix — apart from some time in 2016 — but hey, at least it's for sure happening! Best news ever, or what?
