We Need A Carrie Underwood & Kelly Clarkson Duet
There's no denying it: Singers Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson have two of the most dynamic, powerful pipes showcased in the music scene today. Not only are these women phenomenal talents, they're super sweet as well! After skyrocketing to A-List fame following American Idol victories, both artists maintained their ingenuity and down-to-earth attitudes that stole our hearts from their first live auditions. While twitter wars and backhanded comments abounded throughout social media and Hollywood, these two never seemed to get entrenched in the conflict — quite the opposite! Both Underwood and Clarkson are prime examples of how you can be tenacious without becoming a mud-slinger, and that competition really can be friendly. The singers frequently pay accolades to other artists, pay tribute to their fans, and are frequent proponents of charity.
Underwood and Clarkson may be fixtures in different genres of music (Underwood is a country singer and Clarkson has secured her spot as a pop star), but — like their fantabulous personalities — many similarities can be found on their records. Both ladies have offered some of the best breakup tracks to date, with Underwood's hit "Before He Cheats" and Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone." Conversely, these girls know how to slow things down as well. "Because of You" was the first hit from Clarkson that allowed fans a glimpse inside the consistently upbeat singer's early struggles with an estranged parent. Underwood's "Mama's Song" served as a beautiful dedication to her own mother. Clarkson speaks frequently about her love of duets, and I can't think of a better singing partner for her than Underwood. Let's take a look at the 7 reasons Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson need to do a duet now — right now!
Kelly Clarkson Has Country Music Experience
Clarkson already has some country music experience under her belt, being that she was featured on Jason Aldean's hit, "Don't You Wanna Stay" released in 2010. If that isn't enough for you, she's also married to Reba McEntire's son. Clarkson and her mother-in-law even paired up for a country-infused version of "Because of You" in 2009.
Carrie Underwood Knows Her Way Around the Pop Charts
I don't care what genre you prefer, no one was able to get Underwood's smash hit "Before He Cheats" out of their minds after its release in 2005. The breakup anthem was played as frequently on Top 40 radio as it was on country music stations. While we're on the topic, can someone please explain to me how Underwood is able to look as sweet as can be while "slashing all four tires" of her boyfriend's car? That's talent right there.
Both Have Appeared on Reality Television
They could fill an entire coffee date's worth of conversation with the successes and stresses experienced during their time on American Idol.
They Would Sound Phenomenal Together
Do I even need to explain this one?
They Both Have Sass
Both songstresses have showcased some killer sass on tracks like Clarkson's "Walk Away" from 2004 and Underwood's "Good Girl" from 2012.
They're Both Hilarious
Fame hasn't dimmed these gals' sense of humor. I'd love to see their witty banter during joint interviews following the release of a duet.
Neither Would Hog the Spotlight
No worries about garnering a majority of the hooks and chords, here. Clarkson and Underwood have both proven that they know how to share a mic.
Well, now that I've sent this out into the universe, I expect a prompt release of a Clarkson/Underwood duet — otherwise known as the best song to ever exist.
