Keep The Marco Rubio Memes Coming

by Jo Yurcaba

Florida senator and 2016 candidate Marco Rubio is yet another politician who says a bunch of things that seem weird at the time, but can be turned into great Marco Rubio-themed memes later. Most recently, the senator said, "I'd attend a gay wedding," even though he believes marriage should only be between one man and one woman, according to Politico. Right. He has also denied that humans are contributing to climate change, and referred to science that shows otherwise as "a handful of decades of research," according to U.S. News & World Report.

It only gets even more meme-worthy and hilarious. According to Mother Jones, before 2011, Rubio's website described his parents as exiles from Fidel Castro's communist regime in Cuba. But documents uncovered by The Tampa Bay Times found that his parents came to the U.S. in 1956, before the revolution. Rubio insisted that he hadn't known his family's real history, but a poll by The Tampa Bay Times showed that most of his constituents thought he purposefully embellished his account.

Unfortunately, the man is full of quips that lead to a bit of hypocrisy. A biography about him by Washington Post reporter Manuel Roig-Franzia found that his grandfather was actually an undocumented immigrant from Cuba, but he has spoken out against "blanket legalization" of undocumented immigrants, and he opposed President Obama's DREAM Act, according to Mother Jones.

He was also publicly mocked for an extended period of time for the way he awkwardly reached for and drank water during a televised response to the president's State of the Union speech last year. Here are some wonderful memes that point out some flip-floppy, silly, and hypocritical moments.
