After a grueling fifth season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and an exhausting reunion, there's more drama for the Richards family. E! News claims Kim Richard's was arrested early Thursday morning at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Per officials, at around 1:30 a.m. Beverly Hills Police responded to a call made by security about an alleged fight that involved Richards. As TMZ reports, Richards was acting "belligerent, slurring her speech and reeked of booze." Bustle has reached out to Richards' rep for comment, but has not yet heard back.
(Update: As TheWrap reports, the Beverly Hills Police Department has charged Richards with "public intoxication, trespassing, resisting an officer, and battery on an officer after she allegedly refused to leave the hotel and kicked a police officer." The police department also said, "Ms. Richards was displaying symptoms of alcohol intoxication including slurred speech and belligerent insolent behavior cursing at the officers and passively resisted arrest." Reportedly, Richards received a citation, was released, and is set to appear in LAX Superior Court on May 10.)
According to police, Richard was at one point in a bathroom, but refused to come out. According to E!'s report, eventually, she was taken to the Beverly Hills Police Station to be booked. E! News also reports that Richards is "in the process of being released."
It's no secret that Richards has struggled with alcoholism, which has been discussed time and time again on RHOBH. During this past season of the Bravo reality show, Richards, who has been sober for some time now, took some pain medication given to her by ex-husband Monty Brinson. This then evolved into quite the fight with her sister Kyle Richards and caused many of the housewives to be concerned for Richards' safety and sobriety.
In 2011, Richards even went to rehab for substance abuse. Ever since then, she has seemingly been doing fine and working to maintain her sobriety. Richards swore throughout Season 5 of RHOBH and during the reunion that she is fine and is absolutely sober.
