Thursday in Anaheim, hundreds of people gathered for the Star Wars Celebration — a fan convention that's been happening all over the world semi-regularly since 1999. Those in attendance (and those live-streaming from home) got a preview of new droid BB-8 and the new Stormtroopers; they got to hear a bit about the new main trio of characters from the portrayers themselves, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and Daisy Ridley; and they were treated to an appearance by original cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca). But, the icing on top of the cake was undoubtedly the unveiling of the first full trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens.
At two minutes long, it's a full thirty seconds longer than the first teaser released last November... and all two minutes of it is stuffed full of brand new footage. After a series of evocative images including crashed Star Destroyer's and Darth Vader's warped helmet, Star Wars fans finally get a taste of what they've been longing to see since the sequel was announced: a glimpse of some very familiar (and furry) faces.
Check out the teaser right here. Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens will hit theaters on Dec. 18.
