Now that 50 Shades of Grey has finally found its Christian Grey in Jamie Dornan — for real this time! — producers can focus on filling all of the other, less bondage-y roles before the film begins production. Like Christian Grey's adoptive brother who no one talks about because he's not involved in any of the sex scenes, Elliot Grey! According to Indiewire, True Blood star Luke Grimes has been cast as Elliot Grey in 50 Shades of Grey .
It's apparently sort of a minor role, but for all of you who haven't read the book (*cough*), here's a small rundown of his character: He's in his early thirties, works in the field of engineering/construction, and has a proclivity for saying "Laters, baby" whenever he leaves a room. Ew.
He also is a very promiscuous dude until he meets and falls for Anastasia Steele's BFF and roomie Kate Kavanaugh. Eventually, he and Kate marry, and have a kid together. From what I gather, no one reading the book cares about this though, because their sex is not in the books at all.
Grimes is best known for his small role in True Blood this past season, where he played a good-guy vampire with an artsy side who becomes involved with Deborah Ann Woll's character, Jessica. He's also really, really, really ridiculously good-looking, which is a plus.
50 Shades of Grey is expected to begin production soon, and is scheduled to hit theaters on Aug. 1, 2014.
