Here's some good news to make your afternoon a bit brighter. A snippet of The Lumineers' song for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire , "Gale Song," has been released, and no surprise — it's great. There's a lot to love here: For one, it's The Hunger Games-related, which is great. Two, The Lumineers are always pleasant to listen to, especially on a dreary Friday when all you can think about is the upcoming weekend. And three, this song seems to capture Gale's feelings for Katniss perfectly, which is pretty sweet.
For readers of The Hunger Games books, the lyrics are fairly straight-forward in that they're from Gale's point of view: "And all this too shall pass/ this loneliness won’t last for long/ I wasn’t there to take his place/ I was ten thousand miles away/ So when you hear my voice/ Will you say my name?/ And never forget the pain."
Homeboy's got a lot of feelings watching Katniss build a relationship in the public eye with Peeta. Someone give this kid a guitar.
As for the song itself, it's total melancholic Lumineers — soft, soulful, and the perfect music to play when you're pensively staring out the window of a high-rise, Jack Donaghy-style.
Unfortunately, the song isn't embeddable, but you can head on over to Hypable to hear the snippet. The full soundtrack for Catching Fire will be released on Nov. 19, two days before the film begins late-night screenings on Nov. 21.
