Normally, Game of Thrones book readers have a lot to brag about. With all of the additional knowledge they possess about the characters and the storyline in general, it's basically as if they have the ability to predict the future. (Though having to experience that "Red Wedding" scene twice was probably not pleasant.) However, there are those rare occasions when even possessing an in-depth knowledge of the books fails to come in handy — most likely because the writers have decided to veer slightly (or sometimes not-so-slightly) off course in a different direction. And one of those times will show up in GoT Season 5, regarding Tyrion's search for Daenerys. (Warning: major plot SPOILERS ahead. So if you don't want to know what's coming, I suggest you flee this realm at once!)
Though these two characters have yet to meet each other in the actual books, Tyrion and Dany will, in fact, come face-to-face by the end of this season. Those of you who are familiar with the books (or have at least Googled certain details online) know that Dany falls on hard times during her recent takeover of the city of Meereen. This leads her to eventually marry a nobleman by the name of Hizdahr zo Loraq, with the hope that their union will bring about some much-needed peace. Why am I telling you this, you may ask? Well, all of this is in keeping with the books. However, the TV version appears to have added one extra (and very important) person to the wedding celebrations guest list: Tyrion Lannister himself.
Don't believe me? I don't blame you. Which is why I just so happen to have photographic proof of this little reunion.
No, you are not hallucinating. This behind-the-scenes photo reveals Tyrion and Dany sitting mere feet away from each other during the celebratory gladiator games. Now, of course, we knew Tyrion would be searching for Dany throughout the course of this season, given not only the epic GoT poster, where Tyrion encounters one of Dany's dragons, but also because of the very telling snippets of conversation we've heard between Tyrion and Varys.
That, by itself, isn't a big surprise. But to have him reach his destination so early is a completely different story. So much happens to Tyrion in the books well before he ever even reaches Meereen. (I won't give too much away regarding this in case some of it still happens, but let's just say it's not the smoothest journey in the world. Though, given the show we're talking about here, that's not exactly shocking news.)
But either way, viewers can be rest assured knowing that these two pivotal characters will be sharing some major scene time in the very near future. And I, for one, can't wait to see how it all plays out. Because, as it stands right now, it's pretty much anyone's guess.
