Here's Why Beer Is Good For Your Hair
The author of a new book, Skin Cleanse: The Simple, All-Natural Program for Clear, Calm, Happy Skin, relies on using beer in the shower to keep her hair voluminous and healthy (say what?!). In an interview with TIME, S.W. Basics founder Adina Grigore dished on how the delicious brew might be useful in your beauty routine.
Grigore doesn't use any store-bought products for her beauty regimen and decided to look to items in her kitchen, which is probably why she has tried beer on her hair before. We've heard of some crazy beauty tricks, but this takes it to a new level of crazy.
So, here's why beer might be good for your tresses: According to TIME, Grigore said that pouring beer on your hair in the shower is "super conditioning."
"While you’re pouring it in your hair, it feels a little luxurious, which is counterintuitive to what you’d think pouring a can of beer in your hair is like," Grigore told TIME. "But the B vitamins and all the nutrients from the fermenting are really great, and it’ll add body to your hair, too."
So if beer is good for your hair, it must be good for you to drink, too, right? Well, maybe we shouldn't get our hopes up about that, but everything in moderation of course. Grigore compares drinking beer to eating foods that have been heavily processed.
"A beer that has gone through crazy amounts of steps to get into that bottle, it’s not the same as if you were to brew some on your countertop," she said. "A small amount of it would be good for you if you want to start your own home brewing process."
OK, so go ahead and start your own brewing company at home so you can have an endless supply for your hair and feel better about drinking it, too.
