So, let's get started! Here's all of the essential details you need to know about the franchise, if Furious 7 is your first The Fast and the Furious film.
Paul Walker and Vin Diesel Are Star-Crossed Friends
Paul Walker is a cop named Brian O'Conner who goes undercover in street drag racing gang. During his case, he becomes BFFs with Vin Diesel, who is a criminal (named Dominic) in the gang.
Brian O'Conner Falls for Dominic's Sister
But then, Brian falls in love with Dominic's sister who is named Mia (and played by Jordana Brewster). They are sometimes in love and sometimes not, and it's very dramatic (but in a good way).
There Are Lots of Guns and Chase Scenes
And they're actually extremely well done.
The Third Film, Tokyo Drift, Is Narratively Irrelevant In The Franchise
Tokyo Drift really isn't relevant to any of the other films, in the sense that it actually has barely anything to do, plot-wise, with the ongoing narrative of the franchise.
Jason Statham and His Movie Brother Are Both Bad Guys
Jason Statham, aka Deckard Shaw, is the main antagonist of Furious 7. He's a special forces assassin who is out to get Dominic for crippling his brother Owen (Luke Evans) — who was the antagonist of Fast & Furious 6.
The Rock is a Friendly Federal Agent
The Rock is in this franchise too, and he plays a guy who is a federal agent, but who also has the respect of the criminal street racing gang. Sometimes, they even work together to catch the big bad guys. Now that's teamwork.
